December 24, 2005: They are five years of age today, the last children of Yazoo: The warmest Happy Birthday to Ferre (Ferre Fuego Noir) in Austria, to Fendi (Flic Fendi Noir) in Austria, to Miro (Figaro Miro Noir) in Germany, to Falco (Fetiche Falco Noir) in Italy, to Fleury (Fleury d'Aude Noire) in Germany, to Ferri (Foudre Ferrari Noir) in Switzerland, to Saskia (Femme Fatale Grise) in Austria and to Frizzy (Frizzante Furioso Gris) here in the house. I wish you many more uncountable healthy years in your families. I knot that you all will be spoilt very much today. All the very best!

||||||
December 20, 2005: Three years with nearly no luck and uncountable "crashes", but this year was the worst: In the "endearing" Briard scene there are people (always the same ones: the eternal fakes, the ones who cannot stand the truth) who after all the above mentioned incidents say "She will give it cheaper" ... What more ??? What shall one think about such "human"? So should there be any reason in this house to celebrate the festivities of the upcoming holidays? NO! There will only be thoughts of all the beloved, who have all gone much too early over the Rainbow Bridge, and for each of them candles will be burning tilll the end of the "holidays". Still the best season greetings to all those who want, who can and who do celebrate.

October 25, 2005: The dwarf of the house, the personality in miniature format, celebrates birthday today: Gizmo is 7 years old. Happy Birthday, dear little "bedbug". You are gorgeous, you are an indescribable enrichment of this house. I wish you incredibly many healthy years here in the great hairy family.

October 20, 2005: Today
Arwa B., the charming daughter
of Rec. Ch. Sándor von Antizberg
and Arwa Zevar, would celebrate
her 13th birthday. She has also gone too early over the Rainbow
Bridge.

October 5, 2005: The ultrasounds nearly five weeks after the mating was already negative, today we have been for an x-ray: Unfortunately there will be no puppies out of the breeding Talis and Zabou. The antibiotics against the infection, which Zabou got from the stud at her last (and even very first) breeding, was not enough till the mating day. What a pity .......... But we are going to have another try next year - again with Talis. My "special thanks" goes to the stud owner of the first mating with Zabou, namely that she cares so very much about the health of her dogs. With the heavy infection of Mycroplasma bacteria by the stud she has managed that the chances, that Zabou turns pregnant, were more than low. Eventually she has destroyed the breeding career of a beautiful, endearing and very promising brood bitch. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Also a way to put other breeders out of the running ......
The rumour, which already went round only 5 days after the mating, and
said that Zabou has infected Talis
with Clamydia, can be disclaimed with results, as Pascale was
for an examination concerning bacteria and had also done a sperm check
with Talis:

October 4, 2005: is 8 years of age, today. She was the first black-born grey Briard in the Austrian Briard breeding, and if only for that reason the trip for breeding (3400 km) was worth it, even though the B-litter was only one puppy and born by caecarean. Big congratulation for your birthday, dear Batida! I wish you especially and from the deepness of my heart many more beautiful and healthy years in your family. And the way I know your family, I am sure that you will be spoilt very much today. Have a good time, and you can be sure that in my thoughts I am with you.

October 2, 2005: In memory of the special hairy family members, who have already left this World, the page "Rainbow Bridge" has been set up. ..........

September 30, 2005: It's ten years ago now, that my life was completely set upside down .......... with the most wonderful present of Heaven: YAZOO .......... She stepped into my life and everything changed .......... With her charm, her temperament, her joy .......... just with everything, she twisted everyone round her little finger, no matter if it was two or four legged ones. In all the years her position was never challenged by. She exuded respect, and this was fully accepted by anyone who met her. It is very painful that we cannot anymore celebrate this anniversary together, that this unique girl, this girl, world wide known and held in high regard, went over the Rainbow Bridge six weeks and three days ago . Yazoo, you are missed so infinitely, everything is so indescribable empty without you .......... I know that life has to go on, and this for sure is what you wish for me, but I really don't know how, it is dreadfully hard, so much has changed .......... I hug you, me dearly loved "Mouse"!

September 21, 2005: On September 20/21, 2005, Oh-Lala (Sél. OH-LALA des Monts d'en Crauzille, HD clear, PRA clear, ERG clear, selected in France and Italy) has been bred to Frizzy (FRIZZANTE FURIOSO GRIS de la Maison du Garde-Barrière, HD clear, CSNB clear, full breeding conformation). If things turn to be as hoped, there will be puppies in black and/or grey out of this mating nearly end of November 2005. Deposit your inquiry for this expected litter as soon as possible, as this is probably the last time that the gorgeous line of YAZOO is continued directly in this kennel.

September 15, 2005: Today it is 10 years ago that there was to say good-bye to a wonderful family member:
Marko came to me after a couple of dogless years and since then there have always been dogs in the house. He was a good soul! Nearly three years long he daily joined me in the office, he was a great companion for and the best educator of Sándor, a perfect educator of Arwa B. and a wonderful playmate for the A-litter. Marko had to go much too early over the Rainbow Bridge: with only seven and a half years of age his HD was so bad that the hard decission for an in all other ways healthy dog had to be reached. Marko, you have been a gorgeous boy and you are still dearly missed ..........

September 9 , 2005: Oh-Lala is in season and will be bred. This is a chance to continue the wonderful line of Yazoo: Her son Frizzy (Frizzante Furioso Gris de la Maison du Garde-Barrière) will sire Oh-Lala. I have considered the early season of Oh-Lala as a sign ..........

August 30, 2005: A very lovely, playful, great and beautiful girl in this house celebrates her 4th birthday today. The very best playmate for any puppy or young dog one can imagine: ZABOU. All the very best for your birthday, dear Zabou. May you have uncountable healthy years here, so that you can spread lots of life and joy in this house! I also want to thank you that in spite of your temperament and your impetuosity you always had respect for the Grande-Dame of this house, and that in all the years since you are here you have been a great companion and playmate for her. Thanks that you are here!
Of course you are celebrated properly as you deserve it, even though there is still so much grief in this house.

A couple of days ago we were celebrating birthday, since yesterday there is grieving and the World broke down for me: Yazoo
was born three times: on August 7, 1995, when she saw the light of day.
On August 4/5, 2000, when she survived the horror
trip to Canada. On June 2/3, 2004, when all of a sudden within a
few minutes she broke down with high fever and was back home only 24
hours after a hard emergency surgery. She was a fighter (completely
according to her sign of zodiac) but also a "kamikaze" - an
endearing kamikaze. YAZOO, I can't believe you're gone. I can't believe and I don't want to understand that my beloved star does not shine any more, that your light on earth has disappeared. YAZOO,
all of the family members, who are already on the Rainbow Bridge, took
a piece of my heart with them, but you took nearly all of it ... How
shall I continue??? My dear YAZOO: Thanks for owning me for nearly 10 years, thanks for the "education" you granted me, thanks for all the luck you brought to me, thanks for your trust in me, thanks for your wonderful children - especially Whoopy and Frizzy who keep a bit of your spirit alive in this house, thanks for your consolation and cheering up when I needed it, thanks that you have been and still are the Champion of my heart, thanks for all the wonderful memories which are indelible, thanks for YOU. You're gone, but in my heart you will live forever, and one day we meet again on the Rainbow Bridge where you will wait for me together with all the other family members from here. Until that day I truely miss you ........ Yazoo, I have loved you each and every day of my life and so will it be until my end.
People from all over the World sympathize with your good-bye. Not only friends and owners of your kids, but also people who have only met you once or have heard or read about you. Here is a small excerpt of this sympathy:
Inger - your special admirer and "mother" of your son "Chaos"
(Sweden) Lynda,
loving "mom" of your daughter "Celine" (California/USA)
Ylenia,
"mother" of your son "Falco" (Italy) Ruth,
the "mother" of your son "Ferri" (Switzerland) Deb
and Charlie, the "parents" of you children "Raven"
and "Shadow" (New Hamshire/USA) Lana,
loving "mother" of your children "Cou" and "Romeo"
(Pennsylvania/USA) Edith
and Alois (Austria) Ingrid
Eder (Austria) Don
& Kay Cline (USA) Veronique
Maroux (Canada) Edith
Greten (Germany) Doris
Schechter (Germany) KR
Ernst Kugler (Austria) Lots of thanks to all those who light a candle for Yazoo, who spend consolation, who are here for me in this hard time and feel with me as well as show understanding for me. On August 26, 2005, early in the morning Yazoo was cremated in my presence and since then forever watches over everyone here in the house, where she brought so much luck, happiness and life. A warm thank you to all those friends who immediately - without hesitating - generously donated for the purpose that this sincere wish of mine comes true, so that this very special star of my life now can always be with me.

August 7, 2005: Today is a very special day! The greatest dog, the uncrowned queen here in this house celebrates her 10th birthday.
Dear Yazoo, the very best wishes for your birthday. You are something very, very special in my life and I am incredibly grateful for every minute you join me. You have brought life and lots of fun and joy to this house. You have given birth to gorgeous children and you are the best thing a human can desire. From the deepness of my heart I wish you healthiness and happiness for the future, and for both of us I wish many more nice years together. Thank you, Yazoo, that you are here!!! And lots of thanks to your breeders Martial & Gigi Chouvel, that they have entrusted me with you.

Take care, something like this could also happen to you! Beforehand a message to all those who spread the rumour only 10 days after the mating of Zabou, that the stud is INFERTILE: such statements can only originate from sick brains!!! Put your own over and over dirty house in order first ..........! Zabou (AJCh. ALOAZABOU du Noble Nid) is in season and shall be bred, but it does not run without problems: She has bacteria (Mycoplasma) with which she must have been infected - according to the information of the veterinarians in the gynecology clinic of the Vet. University Vienna - ONLY in the course of a mating, as the infection with that bacteria happens by this way. Zabou had been tested for germs and bacteria prior to her FIRST breeding (as ALL my bitches always are with smear and blood picture) and she was ABSOLUTELY CLEAR, of which the results of the Vet. University Vienna from December 2003 give evidence! (The bitch which had been mated previous to Zabou by this stud, had been empty, but had puppies with other studs.) If until the mating day the antibiotics are not enough she might remain empty. Also the stud has to have antibiotics now to not be infected. Whether the bacteria are gone after the 14 days treatment with antibiotics or not, can only be checked shortly before Zabou's next season. When they still are present, the "game" repeats .......... Zabou has only been mated ONCE and has been empty that time .......... How "happy" I am about this everyone can for sure imagine! Any reasonable breeder has his stud(s) frequently and his bitch(es) in the beginning of a season checked for germs. Nevertheless, since some years many stud owners (this kennel also does) insist that the bitch owners present a result concerning Canine Brucellosis and Chlamydia previous to the mating, to not have their studs infected ... and this act is absolutely understandable! Because of the irresponsibility of some dog owners it is now also necessary for the bitch owner to have presented an up-to-date result according germs of the chosen stud!

May 13, 2005: The
first photos of Nurmi and
his companion Jakobine have
arrived today (just click on one of the names).
|
||||||
May 10, 2005: Today the topic is not the dogs: From my friend Brigitte (it's she from whom I have tom cat Tarzan) one of her parrots died last week and therefore her Jakobine was alone. When I heard about this I thought if it wouldn't be fair to give my Nurmi the chance of a life which I could not offer him: In the home of Brigitte there is a huge cage which is open all day long, the birds have the possibility to get outside directly from this cage to the veranda, which is bird safe, and where they have a beautiful climbing tree. This means that the birds - whenever they want to - can get outside to nature. They are allowed to fly and walk around in the house, the dogs and cats from Brigitte are used to that. And .............. Brigitte is at home all day long. So I called and asked her if she would like to try Nurmi to be "nationalized" with her girl. She immediately said yes and came over yesterday evening to get him. Nurmi is a real endearing parrot, he allows everyone to touch him and he never ever showed any aggression. This was what Brigitte was fascinated about immediately. It was no problem to get Nurmi into the transportation cage and it did not disturb him at all. In the car - placed safely - he looked around and was not scared at all. It was a bit painful for me, but with the thoughts of Nurmi's well-being in my mind I fought against the tears successfully. Now it was meant to have fingers crossed that Nurmi and Jakobine would get along, which of course could last some days. Of course I missed something this morning: Nurmi's saying "Good morning" while I have breakfast, his babble while my day began and his "see you" when I left the house. While driving with the subway I received an SMS and I could only smile when I saw what I had received: a picture from Nurmi and Jakobine sitting next to each other - in complete harmony. Therewith, the first step was done. I called Brigitte at noon and she told me that she had put the cage with Nurmi right besides the huge cage with Jakobine in there. As soon as the birds caught eyes from each other they went grating and started kissing. Well, and then Nurmi was put into the huge cage and that was it ............. they got on well immediately! Nurmi's toys were fixed to the cage and were strictly inspected by Jakobine, while Nurmi was busy with Jakobine's toys.
Today in the morning Nurmi already nibbled from Brigitte's breakfast and ate the fruit that was offered to him. And he also made his first excursion to the veranda and inspected the climbing tree. Nurmi was born on 04/17/1998 and has been here since beginning of October 1998. At that time Gunki, the Timneh Grey, was still alife, but he did not want to have contact with Nurmi and so each of them had the own cage. Nurmi was very receptive and rapidly learned to speak various words and sentences, to whistle and to say the names of the dogs which ever lived here and still do live here. Mainly Nurmi only talked when no human being was in sight. When Nurmi was outside of the cage he never ever destroyed anything. Favorably he sat on the couch and took apart cork. He never went on curtains, never on plants, ...... he is a real great parrot! I miss this endearing bird, but his absolute well-being means much more to me than my own "selfishness". It was meant to be that Jakobine looses her partner so that Nurmi got the place he deserves, and where in the middle of a gread family he can continue his life. I will visit him, he does not live far from here. Thanks Brigitte, that you now offer Nurmi what he deserves, what he would have deserved since a long time. And if I keep finger crossed maybe it works that Jakobine and Nurmi will have children.

May 8 , 2005: On 05/07/2005 the Austrian Briard Specialty took place and some of the dogs from here were rather successful:
Frizzy was - first time since youth class - handled by myself ...... we have to practise that we are more perfect with running. Zabou was once again presented by Falko, and it was a pleasure to watch this "team". Oh-Lala and Yazoo were also handled by myself. One could see that Yazoo had fun to be back in the ring after two years. Even though the "Kamikaze-Lady" could not show the great movement she presented for so many years because of the torn muscle she had some time ago, many people wondered that this great girl will soon be ten years of age. Yazoo enjoyed the athmosphere and of course the padding in and outside the ring. And most fascinated she was about the delicious gift which she got for attending the veteran parade. Many many thanks to Falko for leading Zabou to the win of her class, and thanks to Wolfgang that he took so many photos of which some can now be used here in the homepage and in the homepages of the single dogs! A couple of days ago Inger from Sweden sent me two nice pictures of Chaos, the reflection of my so much missed Samson. These photos have of course been added to the slideshow of Chaos. Thanks to Inger that she sent the photos immediately after they had been taken, and thanks to Bosse who shot those photos for me!

April 17, 2005: Finally Apollo ist "at home". An hour ago I picked him up. He had decided to attack the weakest link in the gang - the mix breed which has leukemia and cannot longer defend herself. This all seems to have been too much for the poor guy, changing the home and all day long having four girls around him, as he was used to be the "only child" for 11 years. Now he is together with Oh-Lala, who likes to have a "man" at her side again. At the moment Apollo will only get to know her, till he knows where he is, and then step by step he will be introduced to the other girls. He had too much stress in the past days, he needs to come to rest. ......

On April 15, I received an emergency call via eMail: a black 11 years old Briard boy would very urgently need a new home, as his owners were both very sick (he has Alzheimer and his wife cancer and would only have some more weeks to live). They had brought the dog to the vet to have him put down, but the vet refused to do that with a healthy dog. Some few days the dog could stay with the assistance of the vet, but the circumstances of her life made it impossible to keep him. Immediately I started to write some mails and make phone calls. After three hours I thought the matter over and if that wasn't a sign. The song "Coming home for Christmas" came to my mind - I interpreted this song in another way ...... "Coming home for Birthday" ...... and I made a decision: This boy would come here ...... this boy should have some more nice years here ...... this boy should come back home ...... Apollo de la Maison du Garde-Barrière should continue his life where it had began ...... ...... and ...... actually there was a place "vacant" here in the house ...... because of Samson's passing away exactly one months ago. I got contact with the assistance of the vet and arranged that I would pick up Apollo in the evening. Just when I started the trip I received a phone call from the owner of Akira, the sister of Apollo. He said that he and his wife had decided to take Apollo and that it would be no problem as they only had girls in their house (a mix, Briard, Beagle from a research institute and a Bernise Mountain Dog). I told him that I had decided to bring Apollo "back home", but he could of course join me. And so we went there together. Apollo had all his life with him, all his things - from childhood on - in a plastic bag. This made my eyes be filled with tears ...... Apollo got into the car immediately and during all the trip one could not become aware of him - he was sleeping all the time. Considering his stressfull situation after all the nice years with great people I thought that maybe it would be better if he would be in a house where the people are at home all day long and where only girls live. So we stopped at the home of Akira and let all the girls out. Then Apollo was taken out of the car and he was pleased to meet so many girls. Absolutely no problem! Then they all went to the garden and together into the house. Apollo isn't "at home" now, but he only lives some houses further from here and I can see him at any time. I believe it's really easier for the boy to have his human around him all day long - as he was used to for many years - and not having stress being joined by another boy in the house. I have already visited him and he was very pleased to meet me again. Everything went fine until now. When he insists to have a too close contact with one of the girls he receives a warning and - until now - accepts it. During the day they have been in the garden all together and the first night in the new home went over without any problems. Apollo, from the deepness of my heart I wish you wonderful years "next door" and I do hope that you will get over this infinite pain being parted from your beloved humans who have raised you and have given you so many wonderful years, so that you can fully enjoy your life in your new home. I will come and visit you and we will have walks together with the one or other girl from here. ALL THE VERY BEST, dear Apollo! Evi and Ewald: Thanks so much that you have given this boy the chance of a new home and that you did not hesitate to take a veteran, offering him many nice years. I really appreciate it and I am very happy. Thanks to Andrea D. wo has contacted me in the name of the vet assistance Katharina St. to inform me immediately about the destiny of Apollo, and who tried everything to find a new home for a Briard veteran as fast as possible. And many thanks to Katharina St. that she immediately took Apollo home at the hour of need. It means very much to me that a dog, which has been born here, in an emergency situation like this, got the chance to find a new home and is not left in a shelter to his fate. THANKS to all of you!

March 15, 2005: A very cloudy and black day: His life long he was always healthy, he was full of power and energy, he loved life so very much and it was joy to watch him in all his activites ..................... The ones who got to know him personally know this quite well. Only two weeks after his 9th birthday Samson has started his trip to and over the Rainbow Bridge completele by surprise and completely unexpected. He had a stroke early in the morning after he had played in the garden and when it was time for breakfast. On half the way to the vet he died in the arms of Hans. Much too young, much too early, WHY? ................... Samson, I am missing you .............. you are leaving big emptiness ..................... how shall things continue without you?

January 31, 2005: Another day for celebration: The A-litter (Rec. Ch. Sándor von Anitzberg x Arwa Zevar, SchH 1) is today 11 years old. The most affectionate congratulation to Aristide, Apollo, Aramis, Akira and Alysha! May you all remain healthy for many more years and join your humans!
For Atos and Aron a candle is burning, as these two are already - much too early - with their parents on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. So today it is 11 years ago that the first Briard litter was born in this kennel, that another epoch of my life began ............ a most wonderful epoch ............... and for that I thank my dogs exceedingly, especially my breeding dogs, who made this epoch become reality, who set a milestone in my life. Thank
you Sándor
for the Briard-Mania, which has never again left me since you made your
first steps into this house!
