Castle visits with Lynda

On Oct. 8, 2006, I showed Lynda - at the occasion of her visit in my house - three of the small casltes nearby: Imperial Festivities Castle Hof - the baroque adventure world, Imperial Festivities Castle Niederweiden - the baroque game kitchen of Prince Eugen and Hunting Lodge Marchegg. The weather was just great for such a visit and we could take lots of nice photos of the castles and the surrounding. Taking pictures inside of the Festivities Castle Hof is forbidden because of all the original antique furniture and pictures, but the outside is very impressive. After Prince Eugen this castle was owned by Empress Maria Theresia. Her furniture, portraits and some of her cloth are showed. The various verandas of the castle have been built during ownership of Prince Eugen - one does not see from the veranda up above that there are even more down below. The garden has been reconstructed according to presumptions as there were no plans how it might really have been looking. In "Meierhof" besides the castle there are some rooms with exhibitions about distillery, pottery, wickerwork and cutler (all things that have been practised there the other time). In the stables there are Noriker horses and some Lipizzans as well as various antique coaches. On big paddocks, meadows and in game enclosures one can see camels, white dromedaries, white donkeys, bisons, goats with four horns, deer, llamas, beautiful seldom chicken and wild boars. A small shop offers plans, books and delicacy from the region. To see the plans of the first two castles, just click on the thumbnails to enlarge them. The description is in German, there were no English folders available. And here are some photos of these castle visits.
